Overview
Trek Medics International is a 501c3-registered nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering underserved communities with the training, skills and equipment necessary to provide life-sustaining emergency medical response in the prehospital setting. Our services are available to all, regardless of race, religion, class or creed.
Implementation
Using a core curriculum based on internationally recognized training guidelines, Trek Medics International aims to promote basic life support (BLS) education for lay and clinical professionals in order to help communities effectively respond to life-threatening emergencies, and alleviate the societal and economic costs associated with preventable injury and death.
To accomplish this Trek Medics partners with local healthcare providers, public service organizations, community groups and private initiatives to improve emergency care training and response capabilities through classroom education and basic hands-on training, thus enabling improved capacity to respond to and care for patients with life-threatening emergencies.
When possible, Trek Medics International also seeks to provide emergency care equipment and supplies to qualifying entities in order to afford their communities the same access to prehospital emergency medical care that many other countries currently benefit from.
Our Focus
Trek Medics International was founded specifically to help develop the prehospital emergency medical response capabilities of both formal and informal EMS systems and related in resource-constrained settings. Because we have determined that our focus will remain on prehospital emergency medical response, it is important to emphasize that we only involve ourselves in clinical-based health care insofar as it relates to our Mission. Therefore, in order to avoid any misconceptions, we cannot provide medicines or hospital equipment unrelated to emergency care, nor do we offer clinical training that is otherwise unrelated to a prehospital emergency care system.
